The Kłodzko – Wałbrzych railway is a main line in Poland . It runs from Wałbrzych ( Waldenburg ) via Nowa Ruda ( Neurode ) to Kłodzko ( Glatz ) in Lower Silesia . It was built in 1879/80 as part of a direct rail link between Berlin and Vienna. Today it only serves regional traffic.

history

When the Silesian Mountain Railway from Görlitz and Kohlfurt to Waldenburg was built, it was planned to continue to Glatz and on to Vienna. However, for strategic reasons Austria had no interest in such a connection, so that it was not carried out. In the years 1879 and 1880, at least the continuation to Glatz was opened by the Prussian State Railways as a later double-track main line.
