history

In 1991, Gerhard Jansen ( Chairman of the Board of Directors until 2009 ) and Martin Strehl ( CEO until 2009 ) took over the Thun-based Sutter Electronic AG. At this point in time, Sutter Electronic AG had a turnover of 5 million Swiss francs with wire processing machines and employed 30 people. Two years later the new owners took over Schleuniger Productronic AG in Solothurn , which also manufactured machines for wire processing, but also had access to the international market. Both companies were then merged into a group of companies under the name Schleuniger.

In 1999, the previously independent German agency L + H Kabeltechnik GmbH was taken over. In the same year, the takeover of Kirsten AG also enabled Schleuniger to open up the crimp market. Two years later Schleuniger entered the market for POF and FFC cables by founding Schleuniger Flexon AG . In 2004 the Schleuniger Group took over the business activities of the German Grote + Hartmann Engineering GmbH (GHWE) from the American Lear Corporation Inc. As a result , a new product segment was opened up with the newly founded Schleuniger Automation GmbH in Radevormwald , Germany.

The company set up a representative office in Shanghai in 2005 , which was converted into a full trading company in 2007. The Schleuniger Group was sold to the Metall Zug Group in January 2008. In July 2008 the Schleuniger Group took over PAWO Systems AG, which is also active in the development and manufacture of wire processing machines and which was renamed Schleuniger Solutions AG in 2009.

Another investment was made in 2013 when what was then Tianjin Haofeng Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd. based in Tianjin , China , and renamed Schleuniger Haofeng (Tianjin) Machinery Co., Ltd. was integrated into the Schleuniger Group. Machines for wire processing are also manufactured there. In the following months Schleuniger entered into cooperation partnerships with the Telsonic Group in Bronschhofen , Switzerland and the Emdep Group in Tarragona , Spain. In 2015, the company pushed the expansion of its portfolio with test systems and took over Cirris Solutions GmbH, based in Jettingen , Germany, which specializes in the manufacture of test devices, test benches, test cells and, in particular, systems with which electromechanical assemblies can be tested fully automatically. In May 2016, the company acquired 20 percent of the shares in Laser Wire Solutions Ltd.

On January 1, 2017, Schleuniger took over DiIT AG. Even before this takeover, Schleuniger held a minority stake in the manufacturer of software systems for wire processing and wire harness production. At the beginning of 2017, the previous majority shareholder and company founder sold all of his shares to Schleuniger.

In mid-2018 Schleuniger transformed DiIT AG into a German GmbH.

In 2018 Schleuniger acquired a 60% majority in adaptronic Prüftechnik GmbH
