Bohrau Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Borowej Oleśnickiej ) is a castle in Borowa ( Bohrau ) in the rural municipality of Długołęka ( Langewiese ), Powiat Wrocławski , Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

history

Heinrich Friedrich Graf von Logau and Altendorf acquired the estate in 1730. His daughter married Count Friedrich Albert von Schwerin , who had a two-storey classical palace built from 1770 to 1786, probably including a previous building from the Renaissance period . Between 1905 and 1920 the castle was rebuilt and expanded to include an extension to the southeast and a square tower.

Due to the war, prints, books, manuscripts and coin collections from Breslau museums and archives were stored in the castle in 1943 at the instigation of the provincial conservator Günther Grundmann . Some of them were brought to places west of the Oder at the end of 1944 . After the war ended, the castle was used by the Red Army until October 1945 . The Wroclaw holdings that remained on site were stolen or destroyed by the new residents after the secret hiding spots were found. A primary school was later housed in the castle . After the political change in 1989 the castle was privatized.

Building

Today the castle has been restored. Almost all of the wall-mounted equipment, parquet floors , wall paneling , wooden beam and stucco ceilings have been preserved. The front facade is one of pillars bearing Altan presented by a buttress with a final triangular pediment is emphasized. The coat of arms of the Counts of Schwerin is shown in the tympanum . At the back of the castle, a flight of stairs leads to a landscaped park .
