history

The palace complex emerged from a medieval moated castle and in 1665 passed from the possession of the von Koseritz family to Bodo von Bodenhausen . Today's two-storey building with its three wings was built in 1869 under Hans Bodo Freiherr von Bodenhausen. When building in the new renaissance style , some older parts were included. The last owner after the Second World War until the expropriation during the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone in 1945 was the district administrator Hans Kraft Freiherr von Bodenhausen . The castle was then used as a rest home and SED party school. After the fall of the Wall, Caritas acquired the site and built some new buildings, known as the St. Lorenz residential and mining facility. The castle itself is empty.
