Chabrow Castle ( Polish : Pałac w Charbrowie ) is a castle in Charbrowo , Gmina Wicko (Vietzig municipality), Powiat Lęborski . Historically, the place belonged to the district of Lauenburg i. Pom.
architecture
The entrance to the castle led through a gate. from which pillars are still preserved, which are decorated with a family coat of arms. The middle part of the castle dates back to 1660. In the 19th century, the castle was significantly rebuilt, whereby the dilapidated north wing was replaced by the so-called widow's house. The south wing was also renewed and connected to the main building via a tower. The main building received a neoclassical portico in 1906 .
history
In 1286 Mestwin II of Pomerellen enfeoffed the cathedral chapter of Leslau ( Wloclawek ) with the place. In 1564 Ernst von Weiher bought the village and estate. In the 17th century ownership went to von Krockow . Lorenz Christoph von Somnitz acquired it in 1660 and had the predecessor of today's castle built. Somnitz was involved in the conclusion of the Peace of Oliva , which was an important prerequisite for the establishment of the Kingdom of Prussia .
A Fideikommiss was set up in Chabrow . The Somnitz family treasure included the house archive, ancestral portraits and valuable porcelain from the Royal Prussian Porcelain Manufactory. According to tradition, the last lord of the castle was able to bury this collection in 1945 before the arrival of the Red Army. This collection has not yet been found.
