Citran Castle in Avensan

The Citran Castle in Avensan , a French commune in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine , was from 1861 to 1864 on the foundations of an earlier building from the Middle Ages built. In 2012 the castle was added to the list of architectural monuments in France as a Monument historique .

The two-storey building in the middle of a large park was built according to plans by the architect Pierre-Charles Brun. The main building is flanked by two protruding corner pavilions that are covered with slate .

Parts of the moat of the medieval complex are still there.
