Einsiedel settlement
The small settlement of Einsiedel in Darmstadt-Ost lies directly on the boundary to Messel. The former Einsiedel forester's house , built in 1802, with its outbuildings, today's Einsiedel forester 's house and the former pleasure palace belong to the overall complex .

Around 1910, Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig had the pleasure palace built in the neo-baroque style.
In the 1930s, the architect Paul Meissner converted the castle into a restaurant.
