Fischau Castle is a historic building in Bad Fischau-Brunn .

history

The history of the origins of Fischau Castle is not recorded in the documents. The forerunner of the castle was the so-called "permanent house". The "permanent house" dates from the middle of the 12th century and was a small, fortified complex. The members of the Starhemberg family appear as gentlemen , according to documents from the 12th century. In the 13th and 14th centuries it was owned by the Teuffenbach family . The Counts of Heussenstein received the castle from Emperor Ferdinand I in 1561 with a pledge , and in 1577 they bought it. The family of Counts Heussenstein, sometimes also called Heussenstamm, owned the estate and the castle from 1577 to 1817. In 1728 a major renovation took place.

Under Archduke Rainer , a reconstruction took place in 1830, which gave the castle its present form. In the years 1999 to 2003 the castle was completely renovated.

Todays use

Fischau Castle is now home to the Forum Bad Fischau cultural association . This organizes cultural activities such as concerts and exhibitions and offers workshops in the creative field. Particularly noteworthy is the "Fischauer Klangbogen", a series of concerts that are held both in the castle and in the castle park, which is designed as a sculpture park. The blue-yellow quarter gallery industrial quarter and the cultural network industrial quarter are also housed here.
