history

Between 1700 and 1714 Prince Abbot Adalbert von Schleifras had the new castle built on the foundation walls of a previous building next to the Geisa district court . The builder was the builder Johann Dientzenhofer from Fulda .

It was first used as a hunting lodge and summer residence for the Fulda prince abbots and prince-bishops .

The client's coat of arms is affixed above both portals . The terrace-shaped palace garden connects to the east . This is partially surrounded by the city wall. The south-east corner of the wall still has a tower , the so-called thief tower.

Public facilities are located in the castle. The Point Alpha Foundation is located on the upper floor . The rooms on the ground floor are used for family celebrations as well as for conference events in a princely atmosphere.
