The Gröbers Castle is a stately home in the community Kabelsketal belonging district Schwoitsch the former rural community Gröbers in Saxony-Anhalt . The property is also known as Villa Knauer or Herrenhaus Gröbers . In the local register of monuments , the building is listed as a monument under registration number 094 55132 .

location

Gröbers Castle is located to the west of Schwoitsch, on the east side of Lindenstrasse leading from Gröbers in the direction of Osmünde at the address Lindenstrasse 8 .

history

The house was built in 1857 in neo-Gothic style for Ferdinand Knauer , who worked as a beet sugar manufacturer , after whom the building is named. During a partial renovation in 1999, the interior of the castle was gutted. The buildings are now (as of 2011) empty and threatened with decay. The park is partly overgrown.

Above the main entrance of the listed building is a medallion in which a sugar beet and the inscription You owe this house is depicted. The property is surrounded by a park. The former laboratory is located in the park . Noteworthy is the material used for construction, silicified wood, which was a waste product in the mining of the area.

The building had 30 rooms with a total of 1500 m² of living space, as well as an octagonal tower with a Gothic vault .
