Hoff Castle

Today's Schloss Hoff dates from the 17th century and was probably built on the foundations of a previous building. The castle is designed simply and has a gable roof . The biaxial east wing was added under the von Dumstrey in the 19th century.

Hoff was first mentioned in 1284. In the Middle Ages the estate was a fiefdom of the von Flemming family , who fought with the von Knuth over the property in the second half of the 17th century. In the 17th century the estate belonged again to the von Flemming family, who then leased it to Jakob and Klaus von Puttkamer . In 1725 the estate was allodified .

The estate became a dowry for Dorothea Luise Charlotte von Flemming, and through her marriage it came to Friedrich Kasimir von Grumbkow. In 1764 Hans Joachim von Kleist bought the estate. After being financially ruined by a fire, von Kleist was employed as a district chamber councilor and became district chief in Graz , whereby he lost his feudal rights in Prussia . His wife bought the property back and was able to pay off the debt. From 1828 the estate belonged to the von Dumstrey, then to the von Koller.

The park still has beautiful old trees, u. a. a sycamore maple that has grown together with a linden tree , a purple beech , cypress and a hornbeam .
