Kleutsch Castle

Kleutsch Castle ( Polish Pałac w Kluczowej ) is a castle in Kluczowa (German Kleutsch ) in the urban and rural municipality of Ząbkowice Śląskie ( Frankenstein ), in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

history

"Cluchowa" was first mentioned in writing around 1260. There was an estate in the village, whose owners were the von Haugwitz first . From 1480 the von Pongarell auf Habendorf owners and between 1575 and 1618 and again at the end of the 18th century were those of Pfeil . The Renaissance style fortress , which was occupied in the 16th century, was rebuilt after a fire in 1613, but was partially destroyed in the Thirty Years War . In 1685 it was probably rebuilt in the early Baroque style and redesigned in 1735. A drawing by Friedrich Bernhard Werner from around 1750 shows a mansard roof and plastered parapet panels. In 1809 the castle was rebuilt again.

From 1837 the castle was owned by the medical councilor Johann Nepomuk Rust . He had the palace expanded in a late classicist style. Only in 1910 were Ionic colossal columns placed in front of the facade. The coat of arms of the Rust family is on the tympanum . A weather vane with the inscription "JN RUST 1837" is located above the entrance portal, which has been preserved in the original.

After Silesia passed to Poland at the end of the war in 1945, the Dominium was nationalized as a state- owned agricultural production cooperative. In 1966 the castle was placed under monument protection and renovated in 1978 and 1980. Since the work was stopped before completion, the facility continued to deteriorate. After the political change in 1989, the complex was managed by the "Agencja Rolna", but still left to decay. It was not until 2009 that an owner initiated the first security measures.

The remnants of a geometrically formal garden can be seen in the overgrown garden.
