After the death of his father Franz Wenzel in 1765 Franz Anton von Nostitz-Rieneck inherited the family estate. In 1767 he had the old fortress demolished and the builder Anton Haffenecker built a two-story rococo castle with a rectangular floor plan. 1775 January Tadeáš Klinkoš has the first at the castle lightning rod for Franklin shear type installed in Bohemia and the building was completed. The main hall on the first floor was designed by the fresco painter Josef Hager . The St. Elisabeth Palace Chapel was provided with works of art by Peter Prachner and Wenzel Ambrozzi. After completion of the representative building, the line of Counts Nostitz-Rieneck moved their headquarters from the neighboring Pakoměřice Castle to Měšice.

Between 1776 and 1785 Josef Dobrovský lived in the castle as tutor and tutor of Count Nostitz. From 1780 to 1790 the castle was extended by a single-storey side wing, again based on plans by Haffenecker. The castle was surrounded by a French landscape garden, which has merged into an English park since the first half of the 19th century. On July 10, 1855, Maria Mathilde von Nostitz-Rieneck's wedding with Sigmund von Thun-Hohenstein took place at the castle .

Owners of the castle were:

  • 1767–1794: Franz Anton von Nostitz-Rieneck
  • 1794–1819: Friedrich Johann Chrysostom von Nostitz-Rieneck
  • 1819–1872: Erwein Maria von Nostitz-Rieneck
  • 1872–1931: Erwein Felix Maria von Nostitz-Rieneck
  • 1931–1945: Erwein Leopold Maria Alexius von Nostitz-Rieneck

After the Second World War, the von Nostitz family was expropriated and deported to Austria. The castle was nationalized and initially housed a Slovanská kolej (Slavic College). In 1948 the castle chapel was divided into several rooms. From 1948 to 1959 it served as a political school for trade unionists. It was then converted into a hospital, which opened in 1964. After the Velvet Revolution, the municipality acquired the castle in 1996 and leased it to the private hospital operator CIOP.
