The castle Montigny-le-Gannelon is located in the town of Montigny-le-Gannelon in Eure-et-Loir region Center-Val de Loire in France . It looks down on the Loir from high above .

Montigny-le-Gannelon was a fortified town as early as the 12th century, but its fortress was completely demolished during the Hundred Years War . The reconstruction of the castle began in 1495 and was carried out in accordance with the time in the Renaissance style .

On the park side, the facade, which was restored in 1831, still shows the originally used composite of stone and brick . A square donjon was added on the west side, with an octagonal stair tower as a counterpart on the other side .

The building's facade, which overlooks the river, was redesigned in a neo-Gothic style during the restoration work in the 19th century .

The interior of the building still corresponds to that of the reconstruction at the end of the 15th century. The castle has a rich interior and is still inhabited. The surrounding park contributes to its extremely well-kept appearance.
