The Obersalwey Castle , also home Obersalwey called, is in the town of Eslohe in the town district Obersalwey in Hochsauerlandkreis . It is privately owned. Viewing is not possible.

history

The building was built around 1540 and belonged to the von Schade family until 1908 . The family had the facility rebuilt after a fire in 1834.

The von Schades family was owned by the von Landsberg - Velen family until the Second World War . From her it came to the Counts of Spee , who placed their forest management there.

After extensive renovation in the 1970s, the buildings served as a castle hotel for five years. In 1984 the castle was placed under a preservation order and is now used for private purposes.

description

The property consists of a manor house and the buildings of the manor belonging to Obersalwey . The main house is a rectangular, white plastered building with two storeys, which are covered by a high hipped roof. At its northeast corner is a round tower with a polygonal helmet , which is crowned by a weather vane . The mansion is divided into seven axes by windows. In the middle axis, which is closed off by a small triangular gable at eaves level , is the simple main entrance, to which a two - flight flight of stairs leads up.
