Paschbach residence

Paschbach Castle is located in St. Michael ( Appiano ), Bergstrasse 33, in the South Tyrolean Überetsch . The building emerged as a residential tower in the 13th century and was called Pasquay or Paschway , from which the name Paschbach emerged, as the Mühlbach flows past the building. In 1463 the complex was still referred to as das gesæss Pascua , i.e. the residence of a noble family.

The further extension to the residence was built in the 15th century and is a typical example of the early Überetscher style , which combines southern stylistic elements with northern Tyrolean elements . At the end of the 19th century, Paschbach was redesigned into a romantic castle by Hermann von Zastrow . The building is in excellent condition. Inside, the original shape has essentially not been changed, e.g. B. the wood-paneled, Gothic room . Outside there is a wonderful portico with a loggia.

In the 16th century Paschbach belonged to the Aichner von Paschbach and in the 17th century to the Lords of Mörl. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Lords of Wohlgemuth took over the castle, after which the owner changed several times until it was finally taken over by the current owners, the Zanghi family. Part of it is used as a bed and breakfast .
