Robert Conti

Robert Conti (born November 21, 1945 in Philadelphia ) is an American jazz guitarist of bebop and hard bop .

Life

Conti took an interest in jazz at the age of twelve and then taught himself to play the guitar. Just two years later he was performing live and touring the USA and Canada after graduating from school . In 1966 he settled in Jacksonville and temporarily withdrew from the music scene in 1970.

In 1976 Conti began performing again and in 1981 his debut album Bob Conti and the Hollywood Jazz Quintet was released on Discovery Records in Los Angeles . Over the next several years he also recorded with Joe Pass and Gerald Wilson . In 1982 he left music behind, until a new album in the form of You Are the Sunshine of My Life was released in 1985 . In 1986 he performed with Jimmy McGriff at the Florida National Jazz Festival .

In 1988, Conti moved to Irvine , California, where he performed regularly at the Irvine Marriott Hotel. In 1990, the album Comin 'on Strong was released .
