The Piberbach Castle was a surge in the municipality Piberbach in District Linz-Land of Upper Austria . It was demolished in 1814.

history

The first documented mention of Piberbach goes back to 1055. Piberbach was a Passau fiefdom and was then given to Adalholt von Lorch, who had exchanged his property in Holzhausen near Oftering for Piberbach. In 1170 Christina, widow of Heinrich von Brumarn, sold the seat to the Garsten monastery . In 1260 Piberbach was referred to as "castellum" and was given to the Prüschenk. In 1290 Ruger Prüschenk was named as the fief and in 1332 Leutold Prüschinkh. In 1339 Burghard Gneuss, a fief of Duke Albrecht II , took over the property. In 1344 it came to Heinrich von Blumau. André Stadler of Stadlkirchenheld it around 1490. In 1513 Piberbach came to the Garsten Monastery. Abbot Pankraz sold the plant in 1528 to the Hager von Allensteig to pay the Turkish tax. In 1535 the rule was in the hands of Veit Pfefferl from Steyr . In 1550 it was owned by Michael Pfefferl. With the marriage of the daughter Potentia, the rule came to Wolfgang Hand von Ramingdorf. Wolfgang's daughter of the same name married Hans Fenzl von Paumgarten in 1596. He united Piberbach with Weyer in a Fideikommiss . Piberbach gave his daughter, also named Potentia, to Baron Siegmund Katzianer in 1717 . From this Piberbach came back to Siegmund Hager von Allensteig in the same way. The Hager had to sell the property to the Eyselsbergers for financial reasons. In 1789 Kremsmünster Abbey acquired both dominions, but in 1811 sold Piberbach to the sovereign.

In 1812 the Linz merchant Franz Planck von Planckburg bought the dual power of Weyer and Piberbach and had Piberbach Castle demolished in 1814. The Meierhof and the associated buildings were owned by Henriette Plank von Planckburg. The Planck, after their ennoblement also called Noble Planck castle were, from 1825 to 1896 in the possession of the rule Piberbach.

description

As can be seen in an engraving by Georg Matthäus Vischer from 1674, the castle was a mighty three-story building with a round tower and an onion roof within an artistically designed pond. In front of it was a meierhof, from which one could reach the castle via a bridge. Another building also had a tower with an onion roof, which was only demolished in 1905. From the dismantled castle only the tavern behind the statue of the Immaculate Mary, parts of the former Meierhof and a pond remains. A fish farm is operated there today. A coat of arms of the demolished castle is attached to the house at Dorfplatz 3 (Pibersaal).
