Schwarzbach Castle

The Schwarzbach Castle in Polish Dwór Czarne is located in Czarne ( Schwarzbach ), a district of Jelenia Góra ( Hirschberg ), in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland.

history

Archaeologically, a courtyard surrounded on four sides by a moat can be identified, which was acquired by Caspar I von Schaffgotsch around 1500 . His grandson Caspar II had the castle built in 1559 as a closed four-wing complex with a tower on the west side. During the Thirty Years' War the castle burned down and was rebuilt by Ernst von Nimptsch . in 1679 it was sold to the city of Hirschberg, which leased it until 1945. After a fire, another residential wing was built at the beginning of the 18th century, but it was demolished again in 1885.

In 1945, after most of Silesia was transferred to Poland, the castle was taken over by the Agricultural Production Cooperative. At the initiative of an environmental group, the dilapidated roof was repaired at the end of the 1980s. During the restoration, historical beamed ceilings and Renaissance wall paintings as well as the historical coat of arms portal were restored.
