location

The castle indignity was on a hill on the Hofeweg in Löbauer district indignity , on the left bank of the not distant Löbauer water .

history

The property was the ancestral home of those of Unworthiness, but came to the Lords of Kittlitz in the 14th century . In a document issued in 1306 by the Margraves Otto and Waldemar , disobedience was subordinated to the upper court of the city of Löbau . In 1368 an Albrecht von Nostitz from the family of the Lords of Nostitz is named as the owner of disbelief. In 1401 the knight's seat at that time was owned by the knight Otto von Nostitz. The gentlemen von Nostitz regarded the seat as their ancestral home. This was stormed and burned down in 1425 during the Hussite Wars . In 1527 the seat was first referred to as a manor .

After the death of Joachim von Nostitz, the estate came to the von Hund and Altengrotkau family in 1603 through the marriage of his daughter to Wenzel von Hund and Altengrotkau. Under Johann Hildebrand von Hund and Altengrotkau, a castle was built on the site of the estate between 1727 and 1730. He also had the Masonic lodge on the three pillars set up in the palace hall. In 1769, Carl Gotthelf von Hund and Altengrotkau sold all of his possessions, including Kittlitz Castle , to Countess Isabella von Salmour. Her son Joseph Gabaleon von Salmour sold the castle to the Baron von Gabelentz in 1819 . After that there were frequent changes of owners, including the von Gutschmidt barons and the von Sydow family. The last owners before the war were manor owners Julian Czapski and Vally Friedländer from Alt Obra near Koschmin. On the night of January 26th to 27th, 1930, the castle burned down and was then demolished. Today only a few outbuildings remain.

description

Castle Unworthiness, Orangery

The simply designed castle building was a three-story, angled building with a high mansard roof and a slim roof turret with a hood . The ridge turret was square in plan with beveled corners and became octagonal by maintaining the width of the bevels below the hood. The main front faced the palace garden. In the corner of the building there was an arched portal dated to 1727 . The keystone of the portal arch was decorated with a cartouche . The gate wings had fittings made of brass .

The interior of the castle was redesigned several times, as indicated by the strong masonry with the secondary stairs inside. One of the larger halls had a stucco ceiling from 1727. Other rooms had similar ceilings. The windows on the ground floor were partly provided with iron bars with hearts and rings inserted through them, which probably came from the 17th century.

Today only some of the outbuildings of the original castle are preserved. The stately stable building was built at the same time as the castle. Three keystones are walled up in the stable building, of which the middle one shows the marriage coat of arms of von Hundt and von Raben, which dates back to 1730 . The other two keystones show an unclear monogram . The orangery is a simple building.
