Walkersdorf Castle

The Walkersdorf Castle is a castle in the village Grafenegg in the district of Krems-Land in Lower Austria .

history

The Göttweiger Urbar names 1302/22 "Tiemo de Walkersdorf" and "dominus Ulricus de Radeprunn de Walkersdorf". The castle had frequently changing owners, including the Melk Abbey and the Counts Breuner and Stubenberg .

description

Walkersdorf is located in the valley of the Kamp, just under 1 km northwest of Etsdorf am Kamp. Today's three-wing, two-storey building, which forms a courtyard of honor, dates from the end of the 18th century. The main front facing the settlement shows classicist building elements that accentuate the otherwise very sober, modernly shaped building. Today it houses apartments, a winery and a wine tavern.
