Schlossbergalpe

The Schlossbergalpe , often also called "Schlossbergalm", is located at the foot of the Eisenberg and Hohenfreyberg castle ruins and above the village of Zell in the Eisenberg municipality .

history

The Schlossbergalpe was first mentioned in 1598, when the von Freyberg-Eisenberg family divided up their property. At the same time, the new owner of Eisenberg Castle, Werner Philipp von Freyberg-Eisenberg, was also supposed to go to the same mountain ain new erbawens house item städel, and stables as well as pomgärtten, closer, and aygne vichwaiden . This "newly built house" was the castle's farm yard. It could not be passed on within a family like the other farms in the village, but it was re-awarded by the lordship when an owner died. In 1707, the castle builder Martin Friedl asked that the property be loaned to a child. He will judge the "already dilapidated house" when the rulers provide the timber. Because of these special circumstances, the "castle property" is not mentioned in the Eisenberg fief books.

The last castle builder was Franz Friedl. In 1835 he moved into a new property in Zell, which was now given the name "Schlossbauer". At that time he was able to acquire fields worth 180 guilders from the property of Baron Joseph Friedrich von Freyberg-Eisenberg. The Schlossbergalpe was no longer inhabited in winter and the area was used as pastureland from then on. The first known tenant was Gottfried Angerer from the Eisenberg district of Speiden from around 1900 . He grazed 30-40 dairy cows on the Schlossberg and set up a "cheese kitchen" in the courtyard. Round cheese was made from the 300–500 liters of milk and found its customers in the area. During the summer months, the von Freyberg family lived temporarily in the Alpe, where a room was reserved for them on the first floor.

After Angerer had given up the Schlossbergalpe in 1923, it was leased from the orphanage in Pfronten to take care of the Vincentians and the residents. When the two childless baroness Olga and Maria von Freyberg wanted to sell their Eisenberg property, it was acquired by the (former) Raiffeisenkasse Zell in 1938. In addition to the courtyard, garden and ruins, the purchase included around 40 hectares of forest and pastureland. The purchase price was to be paid in annual installments until 1951. Thereafter, the barons were entitled to a monthly pension until their death. Their condition was also a grave in the Zell cemetery, which was met in 1948 when Maria von Freyberg died. Her sister, who died in 1952, also found her final resting place here. At the time of the sale it was agreed that a forest and pasture cooperative would have to be founded. She still has the area cultivated and has given the alp to tenants who also do the shepherd service.

Excursion restaurant

The Schlossbergalpe is located at around 1000 m above sea level and is accessible via hiking trails and a road. From here you can visit the castle ruins above. With the increase in tourism, a catering business was created in the Alpe, for which the building was increasingly renovated and modernized.

On the terrace the visitor can enjoy a charming panoramic view of the Allgäu mountains and the Füssener Land. When the view is clear, the Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles can also be seen.
