The castle fountain in Hanover is located on Hannah-Arendt-Platz across from the Leineschloss . It is the oldest preserved fountain in the city. The fountain, designed in the style of classicism , was only installed here in 1955 after being repositioned several times.

history

The fountain was the successor to the Parnassus fountain, which was demolished in 1802, and was originally in the Calenberger Neustadt on the Neustadt market square from 1829 . There he was removed in 1914 in connection with the construction of the Duve fountain and transferred to the Oberrealschule am Clevertor (there until 1952). Before the fountain was moved to its current location in 1953, the once arched top was converted into a bowl with a diameter of 1.80 meters.
