history

Elevation profile

The first surveying work took place in 1886/87, the actual construction work began in 1889. The line was opened on November 18, 1890. The planned extension to Belgium was not carried out. The connection to the SNCV route network was also unsuccessful, although the routes from Marche-en-Famenne and Arlon , which opened after 1900, ended only a few hundred meters from Martelingen train station.

Individual pairs of trains had already been replaced by omnibuses in 1952, and all passenger traffic was to be carried out with the railway's own buses from February 15, 1952. Because of snow drifts, the traffic had already been shifted a few days beforehand. Freight traffic was carried out until August 1, 1953, the narrow-gauge railway was closed on August 29, 1953. In 1954 the line was dismantled.
