Schmid von Grüneck (Malans)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Schmid von Grüneck zu Malans are a dynasty and aristocratic family of the Free State of the Three Leagues who are in the process of becoming extinct and have been resident in Malans since the beginning of the 16th century. , Johann Jacob († before 1721), Peter († 1780) and Friedrich († 1800) made several podiums to Teglio and officers in the Dutch service.

The latter Friedrich was the owner of the Grisons Schmid von Grüneck regiment, established in 1695 . The family is not related to the noble Schmid von Grüneck von Ilanz or the non-aristocratic Schmid von Grüneck zu Bubretsch from Sumvitg . It is also not to be confused with a Chur family who also wrote to Schmid von Grüneck. From the 19th century onwards it lost its influence and has since shrunk to a few relatives, all of whom are descended from the banner lord and court clerk Nicolaus († 1836) and are now mainly based in western Switzerland and Spain. Since the bans of 1794 and 1803, they have been calling themselves Schmid in the official language .
