Schmu'el Halpert

Schmu'el Halpert ( Hebrew שמואל הלפרט; Born February 5, 1939 in Cluj , Kingdom of Romania ) is an Israeli rabbi and politician .

Life

Halpert is the grandson of Rabbi Mordechai from Nadwirna and Rabbi Yisroel Yaakov from Chust . He studied at the Institute for Talmudic Studies in Vyshnytsia ( Hebrew חסידות סֶרְט ויז'ניץ), where he was ordained as a rabbi . In 1960 he emigrated to Israel .

politics

Halpert was a member of the Knesset in the 10th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th governments .

First he was a Knesset member of the Agudat Yisrael (1981 to 1984 and 1988 to 1992), then he was a Knesset member of the United Torah Judaism (1992 to 1994 and 1996 to 1999).

In 1999 Halpert was a Knesset member of the Agudat Yisrael. He was then a Knesset member of the United Torah Judaism (1999-2003), then a Knesset member of the Agudat Yisrael (2005-2006). From 2006 to 2008 Halpert was a Knesset member of the United Torah Judaism and from 2008 to 2009 a Knesset member of the Agudat Yisrael.

He was also in the 30th government from March 30, 2005 to May 4, 2006 as a deputy of the Agudat Jisra'el Deputy Minister of Transport in Israel.
