Schnackenbach (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schnackenbach (also Fallhaus , Fallmeisterei ) is a deserted area in the Iphöfer district of Hellmitzheim in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

The desert is located in the far northeast of today's Hellmitzheim district. The area of the Markt Bibarter district of Ziegenbach in the Middle Franconian district of Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim begins to the north, and Bruckhof is to the northeast . The south is determined by the Waldhof , which is probably a successor to Schnackenbach. In the northwest, the monk's hut, which had also fallen into desolation, was to be found. The "Schnackenbacher Holz" corridor is reminiscent of the settlement.

history

The place name Schnackenbach refers to the natural occurrences in the vicinity of the settlement. The name can be translated as "place where the mosquito-rich stream" is located. It is based on the Middle High German word snake , mosquito or fly. There was a small fish pond here that fed the mosquitoes. It was probably initially a field name that was later transferred to the settlement.

The place was first mentioned in the 18th century. Before 1723 a map mentioned the so-called "Fallhaus". The hangman's apartment at Zent Hellmitzheim was housed here. In 1727, when the Enzlar district was re-petrified , the “Unterschnackenbacher See” and the “Schnackenbacher Markung” were also named. In 1791 the "Fallmeisterey" reappeared. In 1809 the building was torn down and the forest courtyard "was built near the Schnackenbach executioner's apartment, which had been torn down".
