A German documentary film by the directors Claus Oppermann and Gerald Grote from 2008 is a thing of the past . The production was supported by the Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH) and the (then) Volksbank Schleswig-Holstein.
action
The citizens of Schleswig-Holstein were not prepared for the snow disaster in Northern Germany in 1978 . As a result of a three-day snow storm with heavy gusts of wind up to 10 wind forces, there was meters of snow. Electricity and telecommunications networks collapsed, traffic routes and thus the supply were locally shut down for days. The film is a collection of documentary Super 8 recordings that were made privately and thus give an insight into personal fates of that time. The events are illustrated in interviews with the filmmakers and other contemporary witnesses. The film was commented on from off by Rolf Becker .
Emergence
The documentation was created after the idea for this through calls in the local press in Schleswig-Holstein: " Who has private recordings from this time, who would like to make them available? " The feedback can be read on the cover of the DVD: 14,250 meters of film. The original 8 mm films and also sound recordings on cassette were picked up personally by Grote or Oppermann and, after digitization, returned to contemporary witnesses in person.
The premiere finally took place on December 6th, 2008 in the Metro-Kino in Kiel . The film was then shown in many localities - including those affected at the time - with lively participation.
