The Schneller came from Lottstetten in what is now Klettgau , Baden-Württemberg. The Landgraviate of Klettgau belonged to the Schwarzenberg rule until 1806 and, as a result of the mediatization, fell to the Grand Duchy of Baden . The family worked for generations as ministerials and bailiffs of the Counts of Sulz and the Provost of Öhningen . In addition to owning property, the Schneller family in Lottstetten always held inheritance through the hospital and donation office of the city of Schaffhausen , the Öhningen provost and the Rheinau monastery .

history

According to the nobility act of 1639, the family has belonged to the nobility since the 12th century: “because our previous noble family has already stretched for 400 years. The coat of arms already in possession of it: and the letter of nobility, however, by the Swedish enemy, has been taken down and burned away; so it would have been robbed of it. ”(In the said fight and defense of Lottstetten against the Swedes on May 8, 1633, three members of the family died.)

As a further special services which the ennoblement led, participation was more family members in the campaign against the Turks in Hungary in 1599. Led the army it was Karl Ludwig zu Sulz , Landgraf to Klettgau , imperial Feldzeugmeister and president of the War Council .

Branches of the family now live in Germany (including Berlin), Hungary, Austria and Switzerland. In Hungary, the family is called Schneller or Selényi in addition to Schneller.

A silver rafter, on the main shield a gray-blue bar with three six-pointed gold stars. - On the helmet a red and silver blanket between two buffalo horns bound in red and silver, the rafter on the top of which rests a golden six-pointed star.

A shield divided by gold and blue; above a blue-clad, bearded man with golden buttons and a waistband of the same kind, a blue pointed cap with a golden cuff, holding three tulips in his left hand, his right hand propped up on his hip. Below four (1, 2, 1) golden balls. On the helmet with blue-and-gold covers on both sides between two outward-facing, gold and blue buffalo horns on the left, the man with the three tulips in a skirt split lengthways by gold and blue.

Quartered. 1 and 4 in gold a gold-crowned red-tongued black eagle at the slit. 2 and 3 a silver rafter in red, on the main shield a gray-blue bar with three six-pointed gold stars. - On the two helmets, on the right with black and gold covers, a gold-crowned, red-tongued black eagle and on the left with red-silver covers between two buffalo horns bound in red and silver, the rafter on the top of which rests a gold six-pointed star.

For generations, the Rheinau branch of the Schneller family owned the Waldkirchschen house in Rheinau . The house is considered the proudest secular building in the monastery town and was also called "Gut Schroffenberg" or "Alte Post". The Rheinau post office was housed here from 1890 to 1957. The Rheinau parish center is located in the building today. The noble seat of the von Waldkirch family was built in 1602. Above the entrance there is a sandstone relief with the coat of arms of those of Waldkirch – Muntprat. The building has a half corner tower and a stair tower. The Muntprat were a Ravensburger patrician family and those of Waldkirch a Schaffhausen noble family.
