Schoren is a district of Thun in Switzerland .

Schoren is located in the southwest of the municipality of Thun. It borders on Buchholz in the northwest , Neufeld in the north and Gwatt in the east / southeast .

Schoren has grown together with the neighboring quarters, but in addition to the new developments, it also has a village core.

history

The name "Schoren" was first mentioned in 1277 as a place name. The personal name "von Schoren" is documented as early as 1250. For the names of origin, the Old High German words come Socorro Beach (sandy terrain), shaved , Schorno (plaice) or shaved (shovel) in question, but also the Middle High German Schorren (crags).

Schoren belonged to the Strättligen community , which was incorporated into the city ​​of Thun in 1920 and was its center for a long time. In 1730 the community's first schoolhouse was built here, which was replaced in 1827 by the one still standing today. In 1878 the cemetery was moved from the Scherzlig Church to Schoren.
