Schpyliwka ( Ukrainian Шпилівка ; Russian Шпилёвка Schpiljowka ) is a village in the Ukrainian Sumy Oblast with about 550 inhabitants (2004).
Schpyliwka is located on the territorial road T-19-09 16 km southwest of the center of Sumy Oblast .
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1697, is the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the south of Sumy Rajon , to which the villages Browkowe ( Бровкове ⊙ ), about 30 inhabitants, Wysyriwka ( Визирівка ⊙ ), about 80 inhabitants, Oblohy ( Облоги ⊙ ), about 30 residents, Opolonske ( Ополонське ⊙ ), about 100 residents, and Kharkivshchyna ( Харківщина ⊙ ), about 60 residents.
Personalities
The sculptor Mychajlo Lyssenko († 1972) was born in the village in 1906 .
