The documents archive Ostwürttemberg in Heubach - Lautern is a unique private literature archive founded by the teacher Reiner Wieland in 1974. Documents from and about authors from the districts of Göppingen , Heidenheim and the Ostalb district are archived there.

Archive tasks

The archive secures published and unpublished documents from East Württemberg . By arranging discussions among those interested in the word and by connecting to the history associations and literary circles in the region, the authors and their work are to be honored in public. In particular, the development and processing of the holdings for research and scientific evaluation are among the tasks.

history

Reiner Wieland, who was previously the rector of the Bartholomä elementary and secondary school , has been collecting not only the big names such as Schiller, Mörike and Hesse, but as many authors in the region as possible for over 30 years. His collection has now grown to over 5000 authors and over 900 linear meters of shelf and is considered the largest private literary archive in Germany . The house was expanded to accommodate Josef Mühlberger's estate .

In 1987 Wieland founded the Friends of Josef Mühlbergers e. V. to stimulate literature research in the region and to award prizes. In order to secure the future of the archive, Wieland founded the Ostwuerttemberg Literature Research Foundation in 1999 , whose foundation capital has grown from 65,000 to 300,000 euros since it was founded.
