The school on Buntentorsteinweg is located in Bremen , Neustadt district, Huckelriede district , Buntentorsteinweg 245 at the corner of Hardenbergstraße. The buildings were constructed in 1861 according to plans by Alexander Schröder and in 1909 according to plans by building officer Hugo Weber . The buildings have been a listed building in Bremen since 1980 .

history

The former country school in the sparsely populated area was initially a secondary school to the St. Pauli Church School of the St. Pauli parish when the latter bought buildings for this secondary school in 1807. Another school building was built in 1825.

Free tuition free schools for boys came in Bremer education after the successful 1844 introduction of universal compulsory education in Bremen.

The two-storey, plastered outdoor school with a hipped roof and six classrooms was built in 1860/61 as a replacement for the older buildings in the era of historicism in the style of classicism ; The school had 482 students. In 1868/69 and 1875 there were extensions and the school now had ten classes and two more in rented premises; there were now 770 students. Today (2018) there are two foreign language and language rooms in this building, the caretaker's room, the student library and a computer room.

In 1876 the free school became a municipal elementary school, which in 1885 taught over 1200 (!) Pupils in 19 classrooms. In 1890 a gym (9 x 19 meters) was added.

Another three-storey building with eight classrooms was built from 1908 to 1909 next to it on Hardenbergstrasse.

The three-storey new building from 2007 with a flat roof and basement complements the school complex. There are several workrooms, the cafeteria and the rooms for the school management and employees.

In 2018 it was a three-class elementary school with all-day operation. Approx. 296 pupils are taught here in a preparatory class, in learning groups and classes of 35 employees, 19 of whom are teachers.
