Guardian Angel Chapel Aremberg
The Catholic Guardian Angel Chapel in Aremberg , a local community in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), was built in 1669. It is located at the edge of the forest on the left of the road coming from Antweiler .
history
The chapel , which is now a listed building , was built in 1669 by the Guardian Angel Brotherhood . The entrance to the vestibule, which was built later, was built from mighty stone blocks from Aremberg Castle. This four-meter-long and three-meter-wide vestibule, with a wooden door, separates the actual chapel with the choir and a three-sided end. A roof turret sits above the choir and is crowned by a wrought-iron cross. The choir, covered by a flat barrel with stabbed caps , has an altar in the middle of which stands a large statue of a guardian angel protecting a child.
The chapel is only open twice a year: on Trinity Sunday and on Monday of the annual Guardian Angel Fair . Then there is always a service .
