Swabian-Alemannic dialect path is the name of a private initiative (Berggasthof Höchsten) on the mountain Höchsten in Baden-Württemberg . Everyday situations are described in Swabian and Alemannic dialects over the course of the one-kilometer circular route on eleven boards.

Lake Constance is spoken south of the lake , Swabian north of the highest. The border is to be understood more as a transition zone.

The Berggasthof Höchst maintains the Swabian-Alemannic dialect path with a path for celebrities around a viewing pavilion.

Location of the dialect path

From the Alemannic-speaking area, you can reach the Mundartweg via the Deggenhausertal to the Höchst, from the Swabian-speaking area via Illmensee to the Höchst.

Course of the dialect path

Hikers can find out more about the language border on the first board a little above the mountain inn. Swabian and Alemannic terms and idioms are listed and explained on the following tables. The path climbs up to a viewing pavilion, which is located a little south of the highest point of the highest. From there it goes back down to the herb garden above the mountain inn Höchsten. The path is not paved, it rises and falls again. It is also known as suitable for prams and wheelchair users. The Mundartweg was opened in 2003.

In addition to the information on the dialect and the corresponding written German terms, further information is given. A panorama board installed in the observation pavilion in 2007 serves to find one's way in the foothills of the Alps and the Alpine panorama. Concrete footprints by Erwin Teufel and other celebrities are on display along the way. The big "footprints" of Captain Blaubär are out of the ordinary . The herb garden of the mountain inn contains kitchen and medicinal herbs with their names.

The dialect path is kept as free as possible even in winter. The panels of the dialect path and the panorama panels were designed and manufactured by Pfullendorf art blacksmith Peter Klink.
