The Black Horns ( Norwegian Svarthorna ) are, depending on how they are counted, a mountain range consisting of five or more peaks in Queen Maud's East Antarctic Land . They rise from the curved southern end of the Middle Petermann chain in the Wohlthatmassiv .
The mountain range was discovered and named descriptively during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . A new mapping and the translation of the name into Norwegian were carried out by participants of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956-1960).
