Swedish hip hop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swedish hip-hop is hip-hop music from Sweden .

Jazz , blues and soul have a permanent place in Swedish culture. Hip-hop has been a new addition since the early 1990s, when Eurodance artists like Rob'n'Raz and Basic Element lost popularity and groups like Just D experimented with the style. It is certainly no coincidence that hip-hop culture in Sweden woke up relatively late and then coincided with problems in the immigrant-rich suburbs of Stockholm, where integration was slow and unemployment and crime soared.

The Latin Kings were the first hip-hop representatives to become known nationwide. They rapped in Swedish mixed with expressions from the Stockholm suburbs. This was followed by the Blacknuss Allstars (houseband of the club of the same name that takes place once a week in the Stockholm Jazz Club Carnival) and Infinite Mass , both of whom rapped in English. In 1996 the big breakthrough for hip-hop in Sweden came with Petter from Stockholm, and he was followed by a number of artists such as Thomas Rusiak , DJ Sleepy , Eye-NI , Ken Ring and Ayo . The first female Swedish MC with greater success was Feven . Advance Patrol and especially Looptroop also became known internationally.

In 2005 Timbuktu is probably the most successful rapper in Sweden. He brings his political texts in a strong Skåne dialect , is praised by critics and his records are selling. Maskinen , a group made up of rappers Frej Larsson and Herbert “Afasi” Munkhammar from Afasi & Filthy, are also very successful in Sweden and in some neighboring countries . Larsson is also part of the hip-hop duo Far & Son .

Other Swedish rappers are Promoe , Intense , Don Diego , Snook , Fjärde Världen , Afasi & Filthy , Ison & Fille , Organism 12 , Paragon , Fronda , Kenta , Pst / Q , Svenska Akademien , Sedlighetsroteln , Chords , The Casual Brothers , Helt Off , Ungdumshälsan , Kekke Kulcha , Spotrunnaz , Freestyle Embee and Adam Kanyama .
