Sulfur hut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Schwefelhütte was a mining facility near Alexisbad in the Harz Mountains . It was not far from the Selke, above the mouth of the sulfur or David's tunnel . It is believed that it was created at the beginning of the 16th century. The hut was used for sulfur and vitriol production. In 1570 operations that had come to a standstill were resumed. The sulfur works was still in operation in 1590, but in 1608 it was already completely dilapidated and desolate.
