Design and history
The water dissolving gallery used for mining has been excavated on the Reichen-David-Gang since the 16th century. There were pyrites mined and lead-silver ores. In the middle of the 18th century the production was stopped.
A dark, iron-rich water leaked out of the tunnel and had been used as medicinal water since the 1760s .
The sulfur tunnel is entered as a tunnel in the local monument register.
At the former third light hole there is a circular planting of trees: the trompel .
