The Malche sister and brotherhood is an evangelical community in Bad Freienwalde (Oder) . It emerged from the Malche Bible House , which was founded in 1898 as a training center for missionaries in the Middle East and which later bore the name Malche Women’s Mission . The current sponsor is the Missionshaus Malche e. V. , which is a free work within the Evangelical Church in Germany . Theological training in the Malche Mission House was given up in 2011. The new core task, to which the members of the community also devote themselves, lies in the area of diakonia .

history

The origin lies in the "Bible House" Malche, which was founded in 1898 by Pastor Ernst Lohmann . The founders recognized early on that they needed sponsorship to implement their goals , and so on March 23, 1900 they established the name “Frauenmission Malche e. V. “a registered association . This later became the non-profit association “Missionshaus Malche e. V. “registered in the register of associations in Freienwalde ; affiliated to it is the sisterhood and brotherhood of the Malche.

After the Second World War and the division of Germany, a separate work was created in the West. This has been based in Porta Westfalica since 1956 and has been expanded over time to become today's theological-pedagogical seminar in Malche . The buildings on site were initially used as a hospital and later as a retirement home. The Malche Church was built in Bad Freienwalde in 1957 . After the reunification of Germany in 1990, the two branches of work remained independent organizations.

The community

The motto of the community is based on the Second Letter to the Corinthians (5.15 EU ); There it says:

"But he died for everyone, so that the living no longer live for themselves, but for him who died for them and was raised."

Their ministry and life are closely related to the mission house, and therefore they understand their mandate in the missionary proclamation of the gospel . You work for the educational institution and seek to prepare people for Christian preaching ministry.

The unmarried and married community members wear a brooch with the Christ monogram as an external identification mark . The words “Voluntarily to the Lord” and “2.Cor.5.15” are engraved on the back.

There are currently 120 women and men in the community. They live in their hometowns in Germany and abroad and pursue their professions or live in retirement . You support the mission house financially.

Mission House Malche

The Mission House is a free educational organization in the form of a registered association within the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD). The headquarters are in the small Malche valley near Bad Freienwalde / Oder, the name of this valley is also the namesake of the sister and brotherhood and the mission house. The central building is the church built in the 1950s on the foundation of a previously demolished barn. There is also a gardener's house, a library, the small and large guest houses , a villa, a café, a log cabin and the somewhat secluded Dornbusch chapel. The small building was built in the early 1930s as a wash house with two washing kettles. With the connection to the electric current, the mission house was able to purchase electric washing machines. The wash house became obsolete and fell into disrepair. In 1997 it was restored and converted into a chapel . The morning prayer takes place in her. The church theological college was closed in 2011.

organization

The highest organ of the association is the general assembly , which takes place once a year. From this the six- member board is elected, whose term of office is fixed for five years; it meets at regular intervals. The management and division heads are carried out by senior staff; they are accountable to the board of directors.

The sisters and brothers meet in brotherly meetings; this is where the internal affairs of the sisterhood and brotherhood are dealt with and resolutions implemented.

admission

After working for at least one year and living together in Malche, the Sisters 'and Brothers' Assembly decides on admission. The blessing takes place three years after admission, so the applicants commit to a maximum of obligations.
