Sciapteryx consobrina is a plant wasp from the family of Real sawflies (Tenthredinidae).
features
The plant wasps have a body length of about 10 mm. They have a black basic color. The abdomen has thin white bands. A white line runs across the front edge of the mesonotum . On the front there is a narrow white spot on the inside of the eyes. The forewings of the plant wasps have black veins and a dark mark on the wing .
The larvae of Sciapteryx consobrina show a strong variance in terms of their coloration.
distribution
The kind is common in Central and Eastern Europe. In the north they occur as far as Great Britain and Sweden.
Way of life
The sawfly fly from late March to June. You can find them in sparse forests. The larvae feed on the leaves of musk herb ( Adoxa moschatellina ) and buttercup ( Ranunculus ).
Similar species
- Sciapteryx costalis , the plant wasp , in contrast to Sciapteryx consobrina, has an orange-colored front wing edge.
