Scott Hotaling
Scott Richard Hotaling is an American zoologist , geneticist, and climate researcher .
Career
Scott Hotaling is from North Carolina . He studied zoology at North Carolina State University in Raleigh , North Carolina and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in May 2010 . In August 2017 he received his PhD under David W. Weisrock at the University of Kentucky in Lexington , Kentucky for Ph.D. Since then he has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Washington State University's Kelley Lab , which researches evolutionary genetics and the adaptation of organisms to extreme environments. Hotaling names the research of life in cold regions, its adaptation to these environments and its future in a time of global warming and the decline of the cryosphere as the focus of his work .
Among Hotaling's publications , the first description of the three Malagasy lemurs Microcebus manitatra , Ganzhorns Mausmaki and Microcebus boraha , which he published together with nine colleagues in 2016, stands out. His research also focuses on Mesenchytraeus solifugus , a North American glacier with little bristles , the alpine stonefly Lednia tetonica , which is endemic in the Teton Ranges, and extremophilic microorganisms .
Hotaling has been a landscape photographer since 2007. His work has been published in numerous national and international journals.
