Scott Rennie

Scott Rennie (born March 31, 1972 in Bucksburn , Aberdeen ) is a Scottish Presbyterian clergyman of the Church of Scotland .

Life

Rennie studied geography and Christian theology at the University of Aberdeen , the Union Theological Seminary in New York City and the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary . Rennie was ordained a Presbyterian pastor on November 4, 1999. From November 4, 1999 to July 2, 2009, Rennie was a Presbyterian minister in the Brechin Cathedral parish in Brechin . Rennie currently serves as a minister in Queen's Cross Church in Aberdeen. Rennie was married to Ruth Rennie, with whom he has a daughter. After his divorce he currently lives with the Scottish teacher David Smith. Rennie announced his relationship with Smith in his parish in 2009. An internal church debate about the admission of openly homosexual clergy in the Church of Scotland then began. In 2009 the General Synod of the Church of Scotland confirmed the admission of openly homosexual clergy in their church.
