Band history

Scream was founded in 1982 by brothers Peter and Franz Stahl (vocals and guitar), bassist Skeeter Thompson and drummer Kent Stax in Virginia . Shortly thereafter, the band played with several producers, including Ian MacKaye , their first album Still Screaming , which was released in 1983 by Dischord Records, making it the first full studio album by a single band on the label.

For their second album This Side Up , the band took on Robert Lee Davidson as a second guitarist as an additional member. The third album Banging the Drum , released in 1987, was recorded in this formation . After the publication of this work, drummer Stax left the group, he was replaced by Dave Grohl . The next album was released in 1988 on the reggae label RAS Records . In 1990 Scream went on a European tour for the last time. Her appearance in Alzey on May 4, 1990 was published by Tobby Holzinger on the German indie label Your Choice Records . The band split in the same year. The album Fumble , recorded shortly before the separation , in which Dave Grohl was integrated into the songwriting, Dischord only released in 1993. At this time, the Stahl brothers were active in the group Wool , while Grohl was the drummer at Nirvana .

Grohl released the album Pocketwatch in 1992 under the pseudonym Late! , which contains the song Just Another Story About Skeeter Thompson , which is about a touring experience with Scream. Franz Stahl was a member of Grohl's later band, the Foo Fighters , for some time in the 1990s .

In December 2009, Scream reunited with the line-up of Peter Stahl (vocals), Franz Stahl (guitar), Skeeter Thompson (bass) and Kent Stax (drums) for a performance at Black Cat in Washington, DC . This was followed by further appearances in the United States in the course of 2010 and on August 16, 2011 an EP entitled Complete Control Sessions was released , on which the band presented seven new pieces. A tour of Europe followed in January and February 2012 , followed by a few appearances in North America.
