Seabird is a Christian alternative rock band from Independence , Kentucky .

history

The band was formed by playing music together with Aaron Morgan, Micah Landers and Aaron Hunt in 2004. The band soon brought accordionist David Smith on board. After almost a year Micah Landers and David Smith left the band to pursue other interests. Soon after Chris Kubik joined the band to take Lander's place as bassist, Morgan began playing two keyboards instead of the lost accordion. After Morgan's brother Ryan joined the band as guitarist, she recorded her debut EP , Spread Your Broken Wings and Try , at one of the band's members' premises.

This EP was recommended to EMI and after a personal and musical performance the band signed a record deal there in 2005. Just a year later, however, the band switched from EMI to Credential Records. From 2006 to 2007 they recorded song material for a first studio album and released a second EP entitled "Let Me Go On" in mid-December 2007. This second EP was intended as a foretaste for their future studio album, 'Til We See the Shore , which will be released on It was released June 24, 2008. Her second album Rocks into Rivers was released on December 15, 2009. After a long break, her third album, Troubled Days, followed on July 16, 2013 .

Stylistically, the band belongs to the field of alternative rock. Similar to The Fray , the piano is a defining instrument, there are also musical similarities to bands like Coldplay , Blur or Counting Crows . On Rocks into Rivers you can also hear borrowings from the former band Supertramp , but their songs sound much more rocky compared to them. The band showed another significant development on Troubled Days. The guitars, which are increasingly reminiscent of bands like Franz Ferdinand , come to the fore a little more than the piano, the songwriting becomes even more mature, the lyrics more mature.
