Band history

The band consisted of six former students who met at the University of Nottingham in the late 1990s , made music together and then moved in together (allegedly for a short time in a haunted house) and rehearsing in an empty swimming pool. They played as support for ... And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Idlewild , released the single Superfuck , played on the radio station Xfm . They got a contract with the American label Matador, where their debut album Lay of the Land was released in 2004 . Afterwards they tour the UK, Germany and with Guided by Voices and Pretty Girls Make Graves through the USA. Then recordings for her second album, which was initially supposed to be a double album. This concept was discarded and after two years of work and three producers (Tony Doogan, Neil Wells, Peter Fletcher), On Fire, With Love was released on the German label Glitterhouse in 2006 .

On March 14, 2007, the band announced their breakup after bassist James Vyner announced that he would be leaving the band for family reasons. Eastop, Gray, Wells and Aldcroft announced at the same time that they would continue to work together under a new band name ( "Dearest" ). The band's last appearance took place on March 24, 2007 at the Harmonie in Bonn as part of the Rockpalast-Crossroads Festival .
