Sean Berdy (2010)

Sean Lance Berdy (born June 3, 1993 in Boca Raton , Florida ) is a deaf American actor and comedian. He is known from the movie Hercules and the Sandlot Kids 2 and played the role of Emmet Bledsoe in Switched at Birth . He was nominated for the 2011 Teen Choice Awards in the TV Breakout Star category.

Life

In most film and television appearances, Berdy uses the American Sign Language (ASL), as this is his mother tongue. A student at the Indiana School for the Deaf , he was elected Mr. Deaf Teen America in 2010. He also performed with his school's “Vibrations” choir. Berdy has a younger brother, Tyler.

Career

Berdy had his first big breakthrough as an actor with Hercules and the Sandlot Kids 2 in which he played Sammy Samuelson. He starred in the film The Bondage and two ASL sign language films ( The Deaf Family and The Legend of the Mountain Man ). He appeared in advertising for Sprint Relay and is currently appearing as Emmett Bledsoe, son of Melody Bledsoe, played by Marlee Matlin, on the Disney Channel on the television series Switched at Birth . Berdy is currently working on his one-man show , The Sean Berdy Show , a stand-up comedy show. He starred in the 2019 Netflix series " The Society ". In his role he embodies the deaf Sam.
