Seax is an American speed metal band from Framingham , Massachusetts that was formed in 2009. In the meantime the seat has been moved to Worcester .
history
The band was founded in August 2009 by guitarist Hel and bassist Martin Roche. In early 2011, singer Carmine "Blades" DeCicco and Divaldo "Dee" Gustavo, replacing drummer Rich, joined them. A short time later Roche left the cast due to an arm injury, whereupon he was replaced by Matt C Ax. In the same year the first performances began, the very first at the Hotel Vernon in Worcester. In August of that year, the debut album High on Metal was recorded and released in May 2012. Later that year, drummer Derek Jay and guitarist Eli Firicano joined as new members. Several tours and appearances at various festivals followed, such as the Warriors of Metal in Ohio and the Ragnarokkr in Chicago . In addition to several festival appearances, two tours and over 70 concerts were held. After further line-up changes, the second album To the Grave was recorded in 2013 under the direction of Firicano. Steve "Ace" Hammer was present as the new singer. After being mixed by Firicano, the material was mastered by Jack Control at Enormous Door Mastering . A few months after recording, Ax moved to the east coast of the United States , whereupon he was replaced by Mike "Razzle" Bones. To the Grave was released in December 2014. A few months later, DeCicco returned to the band. After a couple of tours, work on the third album began. It was mixed and mastered again by Firicano before it was mastered by Jason Buntz of Enormous Door Mastering. In September 2016 it was released under the name Speed Metal Mania . The band then went on their first tour of the west coast of the United States and performed at Frost and Fire in Ventura , California .
style
On globalthrashassault.com , the music of High on Metal is referred to as classic Speed Metal, which is passionate and strongly focused on riffs . The vocals are quite high and the playing of the bass and drums as well as the lyrics are characteristic of the songs. Holger Andrae from Powermetal.de also assigned Speed Metal Mania to pure, fast and classic Speed Metal. The music sounds like it was from the 1980s, and this is particularly defined by “crackling guitars”, “a wonderfully pecking singer”, but also by the song title. The band forego "unnecessary frills", rather they try to encourage "neat shouting along". Stefan Glas from Rock Hard reviewed the compilation Speed Metal Mania / To the Grave and also assigned it to Speed Metal. Speed Metal Mania offers “wonderful siren vocals”, while the predecessor To the Grave would be even more “rumbling”, but by no means bungled . The electric guitars are more “scratchy” than the successor, the songs are less melodic and the vocals are “mangy”.
