Sebastian Gleim (born June 14, 1984 in Bad Hersfeld ) is a German basketball coach . He has been the head coach of the Skyliners Frankfurt since 2019 .

Life

Gleim was a youth coach at TV Hersfeld. From the age of 16 he coached teams. In 2005 he completed his training as a physiotherapist and switched to the junior division of the Bundesliga club Eisbären Bremerhaven as a trainer . At times he also worked as an assistant coach for the Bremerhaven Bundesliga team.

In 2009 he left Bremerhaven and became coach of the second men's team at SC Rist Wedel , co-trainer of the Wedel team in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and youth coordinator. In September 2012 he took up the post of head coach of the ProB team in Wedel. In the 2013/14 season he led Wedel to the ProB semifinals.

In May 2014, he switched to the Skyliners Frankfurt , where he held the position of head of youth and school development and supervised youth performance teams. As a teenager he was a fan of the Skyliners. In 2015 the Frankfurt U19 team won the runner-up in the youth basketball league under Gleim's leadership . In 2016 he also became assistant coach of the Frankfurt Bundesliga team. In addition to his duties at club level, Gleim was an assistant coach on the staff of German national youth teams (U16, U18 and U20) for seven years, where he worked under his mentor Harald Stein .

In 2017 he took over the position of head coach of the second men's team in Frankfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB. Gleim graduated from the Cologne Trainer Academy in autumn 2017 . In May 2019 he was introduced as the new head coach of the Bundesliga team of the Skyliners Frankfurt. He also continued to head the youth department.
