Sebastian Strasser is a German director for advertising and film. Strasser has received numerous international awards for directing advertising.

Life

Sebastian Strasser's parents and his grandfather Ottmar Strasser were theater actors. From the age of six he worked as an actor in theater productions and feature films. He passed his Abitur at the German school in Bucharest - the German Goethe College. From 1993 he studied sports journalism in Cologne and then (from 1995) film and television at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts . At the same time he was already working in the TV sector as an editor and author for the political format private television (formerly ZAK) on ARD with Friedrich Küppersbusch .

Sebastian Strasser has been a director for commercials since 2000.

In 2005, his first short film Happy End , with Matthias Schweighöfer and Katarina Schüttler , was shown in the section "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" at the 2005 Berlinale .

In 2016 he founded the Berlin advertising film production Anorak GmbH with his business partner Christiane Dressler. In the same year Sebastian Strasser moved to Los Angeles with his family.

In 2019 Sebastian Strasser wrote and directed an 18 min short film Apparat with Ulrich Thomsen and Ayelet Zurer in the leading roles.

Strasser received sixteen lions in Cannes and numerous Art Directors Club awards worldwide for his commercials . He won the Grand Prix at the New York FES, multiple gold and silver at the London IAA, D&AD , Eurobest Festival , One Show, Clio Awards , Montreux . In 2010 he received the D&AD award for the best director in France, a year later, at the VDW Award, the award for the best director in Germany and in 2019 Graffite for the best director at the D&AD in London. He was the only German in the Gunn Report Ranking "Most Awarded Directors in the World" among the top 20 (13th place) of the world's best advertising directors and his Kids on Steps commercial for Volkswagen was among the 20 best commercials of the 21st year by the Gunn Report in 2015 Elected century.
